POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic and cardiac ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and interpretation by Radiologists and Cardiologists.
The Ultrasound Tech must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in his/her department.The individual must acquire and/or demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.He/she must be able to provide care with consideration of developmental status.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Perform all ultrasound techniques and examinations.
Positions and transfers patients.
Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Selects and operates equipment as directed.
Lifts, moves and transports patients.
Maintains written information as required on patients.
Maintains working inventory of supplies.
Performs general office duties.
Covers after-hours calls.
Observes patient and equipment and reports unusual occurrences.
Prepares patient for procedure; explains procedure, assists patient during and after exam.
Cleans and disinfects room and equipment.
Performs quality control and quality assurance as required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have certification and registration by one of the following:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Cardiac Credentialing International (RCS, RVS, etc.)
or be registered and certified by the ARRT in another modality (i.e., radiography, MRI, nuclear medicine, etc.)
Documented training on the provision of sonography examinations, or completion of the SPI exam in lieu of documented training.
Performance of job includes neo-natal, infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patient care.
Current BLS on first day or to be assigned by the Learning Center
