Position: Full-time Physician Assistant
Responsibilities:
Expand Thoracic Surgery Services: Develop and enhance Lung Cancer Screening and Thoracic Oncology programs in Eastern Long Island (Southampton Hospital). Assist in surgeries and provide comprehensive patient care.
Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough assessments, perform physical examinations, and formulate accurate diagnoses. Develop, review, and adjust treatment plans, ensuring precise documentation and effective communication with the supervising physician.
Medical Practice Support: Deliver essential patient care services, assist physicians during interventional treatments, and manage patient communications, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to inquiries.
Referrals and Consultations: Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers and consult with physicians for advanced treatment options. Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless and integrated patient care.
Diagnostic Tests and Procedures: Order and interpret appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures, adhering to evidence-based practices.
Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education on healthcare maintenance, medical conditions, treatment plans, nutrition, and related topics, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
System Coordination: Facilitate efficient patient movement through the healthcare system, optimizing resource utilization through interdepartmental collaboration.
Audits and Research: Participate in audits and research initiatives, contributing valuable insights to advance Thoracic Surgical care practices.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of our healthcare team.

Qualifications Required Qualifications: Physician Assistant Certification: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Education: Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience in a fast-paced medical practice. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Operating Room Expertise: Experience and comfort with operating room techniques.
