GENERAL DUTIES:
The Radiologic technologist shall perform radiographic, fluoroscopic procedures at the request of a licensed practitioner by preparing exam for procedures and maintaining equipment & supplies. The Technologist shall provide imaging service utilizing various modalities and in multiple environments including the Operating Suites, the Patient Room, the Emergency Department and in the Cardiovascular Services departments. The Technologist is proficient in the monitoring/charting and using the Hemodynamic system to monitor the case. The Radiology Technologist's performance and behavior shall be both reflective and supportive of the Mission Statement and Core Values of the Unit and hospital. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Properly establish/confirm patient identity and verifies physician order. Obtains relevant patient history.
- Educate and explain procedure to all customers/employees served.
- Transporting and transferring patient to table and position patient for exam.
- Be proficient with all department equipment and systems, including troubleshooting minor equipment problems. Able to input information accurately in all X-Ray systems including integrated applications, i.e. , IVUS, etc... Able to perform retrieval or migration of old studies, create copies via various media formats.
- Assisting licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures.
- Effectively panning the table during exposure.
- Maintaining intra-arterial access as prescribed by a cardiovascular licensed practitioner.
- Participating in physiologic monitoring of patients.
- Performing cardiovascular diagnostic/interventional procedures under the supervision of a cardiovascular licensed practitioner.
- Performing manual and mechanical hemostasis when competent per unit policy, including the use of vascular closure devices, as directed by a cardiovascular licensed practitioner.
- Performing noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as directed by a cardiovascular-trained licensed practitioner.
- Placing, maintaining and removing peripherally inserted central catheters as directed and under the supervision of a cardiovascular licensed practitioner.
- Assist physician as a scrub tech during procedures.
- Perform weekly fluoro checks.
- Continually display professional communication skills and behavior towards all patients, family members and staff members.
- Adhere to all department and hospital policies, including but not limited to; time and attendance, dress codes, KRONOS, universal precautions, documentation of credentials, and maintain current CEU�s.
- Other duties as requested by leadership.
- Ordering, retrieving, stocking and maintenance of supplies and removing outdated products
- Assist with clerical duties, i.e., charging, scheduling, answering telephones and coordinating exams with other departments.
Qualifications:POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited two-year school of Radiologic Technology
ARRT Certified
Certified Radiologic Technologist (State License) (CRT)
Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required (maintain current at all times).
ACLS certification
Prior experience in Cardiac Cath Lab and Electrophysiology procedures required a minimum of 5yrs.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, physicians, visitors, and other staff members.
