The Interventional Recovery Unit (IRU) is an eight-bed, two infusion chair unit designated for Phase I and II recovery. The unit provides optimal pre and post-procedure care for adult males and females that undergo invasive procedures and/or moderate sedation in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Vascular Radiology, MRI, CT, Bronchoscopy Lab and GI Lab. Patient care is provided by the Registered Nurse in collaboration with area Residents, Fellows, and Attending Physicians. The primary focus is pain management, patient/family education and discharge planning. Staffing levels are 1:3 or 1:4 depending on patient acuity levels.
