The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an intermittent (PRN), Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse will function in the Cardiology Section of Medical Service. Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees serve without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advanced. The duties include, but are not limited to: Floating between the entire department of Cardiology. Circulating, monitoring, providing moderate sedation, and operate equipment on the most complex examination and treatment procedures including intra-aortic balloon pump therapy for critical ill patients. Assuring medications are properly labeled and given according to physician orders. Assisting with training and mentoring other technicians, nurses, nursing students, and cardiology fellows. Assisting the cardiology manager with quality control and performance improvement activities. Working with physician to complete both diagnostic and interventional invasive cardiac procedures as well as cardiac electrophysiology procedures including: LHC, CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY, RHC, PCI, Stent placement, IABP, IVUS, pressure wires, pericardiocentesis, temporary pacemakers, radial artery procedures, peripheral procedures, Cardioversions, TEEs, stress testing, permanent pacemaker placement, Electrophysiology studies including mapping and ablations, Tilt Table Testing, and ICD placement. Assisting with pre-procedural and post-procedural patient care, scheduling procedures, and provides patient education throughout the continuum of care. Circulating, providing moderate sedation, monitoring advanced procedures (including electrophysiological) to include intravascular ultrasound, wave-wire, Angiojet, cardioversion, TEEs, DEFINTY and BUBBLE STUDIES for Echo as well as insertion of permanent cardiac devices. Stocking rooms and monitors inventory levels and notify to re-order. Assisting with patient transport to and from Cath/EP Lab. Setting up for procedures, power injector, IVUS, Flow wire and other equipment used in the lab. Participating in nursing activities and committees. Transporting patients. Work Schedule: : Intermittent; Minimum of 16 hours per month; between the hours of 0800-2100 shift with flexibility required on an as needed basis for patient care coverage Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
