Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative , patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation,joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
The Non-Invasive Cardiac Laboratory provides diagnostic service for clinical assessment cardiac and peripheral vascular diseases (except carotid duplex scans).
Hours of operation are 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily for inpatient electrocardiography and applications of holter recorders.
More extensive testing (special procedures) and outpatient electrocardiography are performed by appointment between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Department Specific Duties:
Adhere to all department and hospital policies, including, but not limited to: time and attendance, dress codes, Kronos, documentation of credentials, and universal precautions.
Continually display professional communication skills and behavior toward all patients, family members, and staff members.
Demonstrates courteous and effective telephone etiquette.
Other duties as requested by supervisor as needed.
Schedules patients while preventing scheduling conflicts. Verify physicians signed orders and complete scheduling documentation.
Properly establish identity and maintain patient confidentiality.
Faxing reports as needed to nursing floors and physicians offices.
Collaborates and assists staff members to perform diagnostic procedures.
Promotes intradepartmental collaboration and communication.
Participates in effective and timely problem solving.
Participates in preventative maintenance and trouble shooting of equipment and facilities.
Complete procedures within 24 hours of order processed by nursing floors. Document and chart when order is completed.
Ensure each procedure is read by the appropriate cardiologist and charged correctly.
Perform cardiology studies are done in a timely manner. Obtain patient history before procedure; accurately documents all relative information.
Follows department policy per procedure.
Transports patients as needed.
Willing to be flexible, changes shift times, and flex to meet departmental needs.
High School Diploma or GED
Current American Heart Association BLS (maintain current at all times), accurate typing and grammar skills.
Able to type 35-40 wpm.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic EKG.
Knowledge of heart medications.
Experience in a clinical environment.
Experience in a nuclear treadmill stress test, Dobutamine stress test, holter monitor scanning, Signal Average Electrocardiogram and Pacemaker checks.
