| The Cardiac Device Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of the cardiac remote monitoring program of Virginia Heart. Duties include reviewing daily alerts and transmissions of all patients enrolled in remote monitoring websites, documentation, reporting and communicating with patients, team lead, clinical staff and the electrophysiology (EP) physicians to ensure appropriate coordination of care. Other duties may include Event Monitoring, TTM remote monitoring, maintaining remote equipment, patient education and instruction, and phone triage. This position serves as the leadership of the Cardiac Monitoring Center (CMC) of Virginia Heart for daily operations. |
The Cardiac Device Specialist must be able to demonstrate the ability to work both independently and under the direct supervision of the team lead and physician. The Cardiac Device Specialist must coordinate and manage the remote monitoring of device clinic patients in a manner consistent with Virginia Heart’s mission to provide excellence in cardiovascular care.
•Maintains and reviews remote monitoring websites daily for transmission data and alerts.
•Identifies ALERTS that require immediate attention and notifies clinical staff and discusses with an EP physician as appropriate.
•Discuss non-urgent findings with the EP physicians.
•Contacts patients with results from the physicians with finalization and interpretation.
•Performs initial device interrogation.
•Documents appropriately in EMR.
•Enters orders in EMR per Orders Management protocol.
•Provides leadership and support for the CMC.
•Coordinates all home based PPM/ICD monitoring programs such as Merlin.net, Carelink and Latitude.
•Uploads and reviews daily Event Monitor reports per CMC and practice protocols.
