Provides clinical and technical support of cardiac monitoring activities and equipment for patients for a medical practice. Serves as key resource for all monitoring activity. Interrogates pacemakers and ICDs, monitor remote access of devices: interrogate/reprogram and troubleshoot patients with implantable pacemakers, ICDs and loop recorders; Coordinate treatment and care for patients with devices. Interacts with clients, patients and Practice staff, providing patient care, communicating, organizing and resolving issues with regard to monitoring; Provide proper support as medical assistant as necessary (prepare and room patient, take vitals/bp, conduct EKG or ECT, review meds). May also need to do INR for Coumadin and refill scripts, assist with clinical calls from patients, physician offices, hospitals and nursing homes. Handle nursing emails sent from offsite remote monitoring company;
Depending on level of education and certification may 1. Complete treadmill stress tests; 2. CVT: Complete non-invasive peripheral vascular tests by collecting ultrasound echoes; Maintain equipment/systems, follow operating instructions; calibrate, report hazardous conditions; troubleshoot;
Graduate of medical assistant certification program desired. Previous experience with heart monitoring devices preferred. Knowledge of medical terminologies and diagnostic procedures required. Must hold current certification in CPR Basic or Advanced Life Support (BLS or ACLS). Must have license/registry to perform CVT. Two years previous clinical experience in cardiac setting required. a. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Ability to quickly assess and respond to various conditions. b. Ability to exercise good judgment and use initiative, independence and creativity to problem-solve as well as determine those issues that should be referred or escalated. c. Must be detail-oriented, organized and able to respond to complex situations with composure. Must be able to follow and challenge instructions and protocols. d. Requires a strong focus on quality and efficiency. e. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including having a strong customer service orientation. Must be able to work with a medical team of professionals in a medical office/practice setting and communicate/present technical/clinical information. f. Proficient with medical equipment and procedures. Knowledge of software applications related to health care environment, general computer, e-mail, and Internet knowledge, basic understanding of database systems. g. Requires current/valid driver’s license to be able to travel between offices and be available to work rotating and flexible schedules and/or overtime. Hours may vary based on schedules.
